Better Chapter Markers
Add your OBS chapter markers to Premiere, because Adobe won't do it
themselves.
Annoyed that Adobe still hasn't added chapter markers to Premiere? Me too. Use this until they sort their shit out.
OBS writes a chapter every time you hit the hotkey. Resolve reads them. Premiere doesn't.
Installing
With the installer — easiest
Double-click Better-Chapter-Markers.ccx. Creative Cloud opens and installs it.
It will warn you that the plugin is from an unknown or untrusted source, and ask whether you want to continue. That is expected — it means the plugin came from here rather than from Adobe's marketplace. Continue past it.
Restart Premiere. The panel is in Window → Extensions.
By hand — needs Developer Mode
Unzip the download. You get a folder called gg.kaim.obsmarker_0.1.0. Keep that
name exactly — Premiere finds the panel by it, and a folder called anything else is
ignored without an error.
Put the folder here:
macOS
~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/UXP/Plugins/External/In Finder: Go → Go to Folder…, paste that, press Enter.
Windows
%APPDATA%\Adobe\UXP\Plugins\External\In Explorer: paste that into the address bar and press Enter.
Create the External folder if it isn't there.
Then in Premiere: Settings → Plugins, tick Enable Developer Mode. Adobe requires it for anything not installed through Creative Cloud. Restart Premiere afterwards.
Using it
Select your recording — on the timeline or in the Project panel — and press Extract markers. That's it.
They go on the clip, so they follow the footage into every sequence you use it in. Switch to Timeline if you'd rather have them on the sequence. Running it twice doesn't double anything up, and one undo removes a whole import.
Options covers marker names, regions, and OBS's automatic marker at 00:00. Set once, then forget about it.
If something goes wrong
It says no chapters. The recording was almost certainly plain MP4. Chapters only exist in Hybrid MP4 or Hybrid MOV — in OBS, Settings → Output → Recording → Recording Format. OBS writes them when the recording stops, so a crashed one has none.
The panel isn't in the Extensions menu. Quit Premiere fully rather than closing the window, and reopen. If you installed by hand, check the folder name and that Developer Mode is ticked.
